Christian to be next Mount Coach

Cbssports.com Jeff Goodman reported just after 11 last night that Mount Saint Mary's has hired MSM graduate Jamion Christian as its next coach.

Multiple sources of The Fan Blog had confirmed the hiring to me earlier Friday evening, with an announcement set for Monday.

Christian was on campus again on Friday and the deal has been agreed upon in principle.

Christian has served on the staffs of Virginia Commonwealth, William and Mary, Bucknell and Emory and Henry since graduating from the Mount.

He comes highly recommended from Shaka Smart, who has led the Rams to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances including the Final Four last season, and former Mountaineer coach Milan Brown.

We'll have more on the hiring as the story develops over the weekend. For now we congratulate Jamion Christian and wish him and the program the best of success in the upcoming years. Fun time to be a Mountaineer fan.
