More Schedule Info

Two more Mt. St. Mary's non-conference opponents announced their schedules in the last two days allowing us to continue to piece together the Mount schedule. Navy and American announced their schedule and to no surprise the Mount was a part of it. In addition, Loyola coach Jimmy Patsos confirmed the rivalry between the two schools will continue, which pretty much had as a given.

Navy will visit the Knott Arena on Friday December 7th. The Midshipmen won last year's game 64-56 in what has become an annual matchup between the two schools. The teams have met the last five years and Navy has been victorious in the last three trips to the Emmitsburg campus. The Mount's last win at home over the Middies was in Jim Phelan's final season, a 70-69 victory.

The Mount travels to American after playing the Eagles at home the last two years. The Mount held American to 42 points a year ago in snapping a nine-game losing streak with a 49-42 win.

Previously, George Washington and Georgetown had announced games with the Mount. And with Patsos' confirmation, we now officially know 5 of the 11 games on the Out of Conference schedule.

I expect that Hartford will also be on the schedule after the Mount played in Connecticut last season. That leaves 5 openings on the schedule.

Previous rumors linked the Mount to games at Pitt and Indiana, and I expect both of those games to happen. So there are three games left to be filled. Savannah State could be a possibility. The Mount played in Savannah last year, but it is possible that game was part of an agreement from the previous year's MTE event that the Mount hosted here.

The other two openings which would come from the Albany and Siena series' that ended last year. So I expect that these two games would be home and home series against like opponents.

One internet rumor had the Mount playing Niagara, a team it faced in back to back years recently. That would be a nice fit.

As other schedules continue to trickle out we expect to find out the remaining schedule in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, who would you like to see on the Mount's schedule?
