Georgetown back on the schedule
Big East member Georgetown announced it's non-conference schedule today and the Mount was part of it. The Mount will visit the Verizon Center on Saturday November 24.
Georgetown was 24-9 a year ago and was eliminated in the 3rd Round (previously 2nd) of the NCAA Tournament by NC State.
The Mount visited the Verizon Center in back-to-back years in 2009 & 2010 losing both times.
The Georgetown game is the second confirmed game on the Mount schedule in head coach Jamion Christian's inaugural year at the helm. Both games are in Washington DC as George Washington was the other school to announce it has a game scheduled with the Mount.
The Mount has hosted another DC school - American, the past two seasons, so The FanBlog anticipates a third trip to the Nation's Capital this year.

My take on the Penn State situation
I'm going to rant and you can like it or not. If you don't want to read, scroll down. But folks, (in my best Allen Iverson voice), "We're talking about FOOTBALL! Seriously, we're talking about FOOTBALL!"
Having football taken away isn't the end of the world.
But you know what might be? Being raped. Or even worse being raped as a kid.
And even though these sanctions affect others than the folks that committed the heinous acts - and yes I'm talking about the cover up. There were no sanctions today because Jerry Sandusky raped kids. There were sanctions because the Penn State administration, its athletic director and head football coach knew about the probability (if not more than that) and decided to do nothing. And then even knew they were wrong when suggesting that "we could be in trouble if this ever came out"
Now I'm sure they didn't think they'd be in this much trouble. And that is the point. That is why the sanctions are as severe as they are, because they knew what there were doing was wrong. And they chose not to risk hurting the football program and put young children at severe risk.
So I agree there are lots of innocent people being affected today. And I feel sorry for some of them. Lots of innocent people who did nothing worse than show up every Saturday to cheer for their beloved. And that's not a crime. Others who've done nothing but try to represent that University in the best way possible.
But I remind you we're talking about FOOTBALL.
Don't take joy in today. Don't take pride in any part of this. Don't complain about it being too harsh or too lenient. Don't waste that energy.
Do whatever you can humanly do to make sure it never happens again.
And remember it was INNOCENT children who were affected by this to begin with.

Interesting take on the new jobs. It does mention Christian. But only as a new hire under 30.
However, what I find really interesting is that two of the top ten hires were coaches who moved on from the NEC. That didn't really happen in the past, and it was one of the reasons that many shied away from the Mount job when Robert Burke was hired. Or at least was a factor for many. And even though there were plenty of folks involved in the process, there was also a sense that NEC jobs were dead end jobs.
That seems to have changed in the last few years. I don't really think this has any impact on the Mount directly. Because I think we have the guy in place that is going to turn this program around. But I think it does show the respect that the NEC is starting to gain, which ultimately is a very good thing for the Mount.

Mount to visit Nation's Capital
In the first official announcement of a game on the Mount's schedule for the first year of the Jamion Christian, the Mount will visit George Washington on Monday November 26th and play in the Charles Smith Center.
GW, an A-10 member, holds a 7-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Colonials were 10-21 after starting the season 4-1 under first year head coach Mike Lonergan last season.
Lonergan has a 2-0 career record versus the Mount, winning a pair of games with his previous school Vermont. The Catamounts won by two in Emmitsburg in the 2010 season, and in overtime in Vermont the following season.
Looking forward to hearing the rest of the Mount's schedule in the upcoming weeks.

Congratulations to Beidler who is joining a team that topped the second tier of the German League last year and I am assuming has been promoted to the top German League this year. The team located in Weissenfels, a city of approximately 30,000 is located in the North Central section of Germany. MBC saw Beidler during a preseason exhibition tour of Finland last season and followed Beidler's progress.

Here's a good read about Nwandu and his commitment. It also lists him at 6'1. I've been told he's at least 6'3 with a 6'8 wingspan. He talks about playing the point and that seems to make sense based on the current depth chart, but with his size, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a time both he and incoming freshman Shivaughn Wiggins are on the court together in the upcoming seasons.
