The Mount's first ever game versus a MAAC opponent
In just its second game All-Time, and first versus a current MAAC opponent (and Division 1 for that matter),
Mount hoops fell to the Jaspers of Manhattan 26-18 in Emmitsburg on January 13, 1910
A "brilliant" Sheridan led the Mount with 7
Ryan led Manhattan with 12, while Nugent tallied 8
That 1910 Mount team, the 2nd in school history finished 4-3. It lost again the next week in Game 1 of the Catholic Clash 35-24 versus Loyola before winning 4 of 5 to conclude the season.
A 58-6 win over Lebanon Valley started the run. Three wins by a combined 8 points, including a 37-34 double-overtime thriller over Baltimore City gave the Mount its second consecutive winning season
The other loss was a 57-9 "guarantee" game at Carlisle Indian Industrial School, a squad that may have included Jim Thorpe. Thorpe who won gold medals in the Olympic Pentathlon and Decathlon in Stockholm two years later, the Olympic Decathlon was the only he ever competed in, was a student & athlete at Carlisle at the time
He later played pro football, baseball, and basketball
