Catching back up with the Mount

I didn't watch or listen to Monday night's 81-57 loss at Oklahoma. But I did get excited about the game when I checked the score from my Verizon Phone while sitting inside the Verizon Center listening to the tunes of Hannah Montana and it was 28-28 with 2:30 or so left in the half. And then the Sooners, went Boomer, 8 straight to end the first half, 5 straight to start the second half. 13-point lead 41-28, game over, or at least for all intents and purposes.

The Mount never recovered against an Oklahoma team that is the best team they've faced. The loss is the fourth in five games for the Mount, after things got so positive by winning six in a row in December.

Jeremy Goode 12 points, 5 assists to lead the Mount. Kelly Beidler 9 points on 4-of-4 shooting off the bench in 23 minutes. He seems to be getting better after returning from the mandated time off, and deserves to be getting more minutes now.

All of the non-conference stuff is now done in the NEC and its just conference play from here on out. The Mount heads to Quinnipiac tomorrow to get back into the NEC. The Mounties are 3-1 and sitting in good position. Wagner the only remaining team who is unbeaten in the league at 3-0. The Seahawks have been my sleeper to contend all season long and they are demonstrating why.

Robert Morris, fresh off the win at Boston College might be considered the favorite, and Sacred Heart at 3-1 and the preseason favorite seems to have righted the ship.

But its a long way still to go in the conference and a lot of games to played. The Mount has a chance to earn its third road conference win of the young season against a team that isn't any better than it is. But they need to play better than they have of late to accomplish the feat.
