Linkapalooza

The counter says nine days until the opener. And of course College Hoops starts this weekend in North Carolina when Duke hosts Presbyterian. (I think that is a different group then the guys who used to play in the summer Community Softball League - but I'm still trying to confirm). Actually I guess Georgia Southern and Houston actually kick the season off when they play earlier on Sunday. But Duke and Presby (as they were known in the CSL) are on ESPNU. The winners play Monday on the U - in the nightcap of a doubleheader with Michigan and Michigan Tech - which I think is hoops and not hockey.

The Mount played Saturday at UMBC in a scrimmage. And those are closed door events. They have to kill you if the scores get out. So since I'm still blogging I have nothing to report.

But here are some stories, I thought some of you might be interested in.

Here is the NEC preview that was posted on College Hoops.net. It names Jeremy Goode to the preseason all-conference team. But instead of the Ivy Leaguer from Cornell, I'd have gone with Kelly Beidler or Jean Cajou.

If you want to get the Preview scoop on the tube, check out what the NEC broadcast team is doing. Set the TIVO now.

It's an older story. But it talks about Mount commit Raven Barber. Everything we keep hearing about Barber is that he could be real good.

We promised ourself we weren't going to get upset at Markus Mitchell this year. Weren't going to make fun of him. Weren't going to expect more from him. Was just going to be happy with what he gives you. Which in reality is a pretty good college basketball player. But we couldn't help laughing just a little bit, when we saw this profile picture of him on Statsheet. Sorry big fella.

One more NEC preview. By now they are all starting to sound the same, and this one might actually be the same.

Remember the Cal-State Sacramento team the Mount beat for the College Division Title in 1962? Quit Lying. Well anyhow, they are going into the Sacramento Hall of Fame. I think they are also DI now, so maybe a rematch game at the ARCC is in order.

Josh Vittek gets most of this blog's attention regarding Mounties in the minor leagues. But here is a story about Ivor Hodgson who just completed his second year in the Royals chain. Promising things going on for the lefthander.

I've never been a fan of the Hokies. But I don't think I've ever gone to this level. This guy made me laugh pretty hard, when I read this.
HERE

One of the reasons I've never been a big fan of the Hokies is their fans and their thoughts about how good they are. In this preview they call a potential loss to the Mount - a stupid loss.

Anytime John Swofford doesn't get his way is ok by me. And when it involves less teams from the ACC in the NCAA tournament, I'm a big fan. Plus this seems to help the Mid-major teams, which I am in favor of.HERE
