Michigan headed to NYC

The Michigan Wolverines might just be getting pretty close.

Last night could have been one of those games that the Mid-major opponent really makes an effort in. It could have been that upset that so often comes at the start of the year.

But the Wolverines would have no part of it.

Instead, a stifling defense limited the Northeastern Hukies to below 20% shooting in the first half and Michigan was never really threatened after intermission.

Sure there were times when the Michigan offense didn't look good itself. Times when you thought the lead should balloon and it just remained constant, but the defense was very good. Stout at the beginning and a little lucky as well. When Northeatern did get open looks, and there weren't a lot, they failed to make them.

But all of a sudden, it seemed as maybe this Wolverine team could be a force, some sort of force in the Big Ten this year. Certainly, they'll have to rebound better. Northeastern for crying out loud did a great job on the boards.

However, they did seem to find a leader. A night after scoring 30, Manny Harris nearly came through with a triple-double. He finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. He is very smooth and has the look that he's only going to get better.

Sort of like the rest of this Michigan team.
