If we had a College Football Playoff - First Round Thursday Games

All games in this round are played at the home field of the higher ranked opponent.

MARSHALL @ ALABAMA - THURSDAY DECEMBER 17
The Crimson Tide left little doubt about this one rolling past Marshall 53-7 in the opener. Mark Ingram ran for 173 yards on just 19 carries. Greg McElroy threw for three scores in the victory. But it was the Tide defense that made the most noise forcing 6 Herd turnovers including four interceptions.

CALIFORNIA @ OKLAHOMA STATE - THURSDAY DECEMBER 17
Many people are expecting big things out of the PAC 10 in this postseason tournament and Cal demonstrated why, going on the road and pulling a mini-upset 31-22 over the Cowboys. Jahvid Best ran for 121 yards, while Kevin Riley threw for 310 yards and two scores in the win.

FRESNO STATE @ ARKANSAS - THURSDAY DECEMBER 17
Ryan Mallett threw for 484 yards as Arkansas clipped Fresno State 34-20 to advance in the NCAA Football Championship. Greg Childs caught 2 of Mallett's four scores and finished with 109 yards receiving as the SEC advanced its second team into the Round of 32.

RUTGERS @ STANFORD - THURSDAY DECEMBER 17
Stanford will be Arkansas' opponent in the next round as the Cardinal blazed through the Rutgers defense and defeated the Scarlet Knights 40-21. Toby Gerhart ran for 116 yards on 25 carries and Andrew Luck completed 17-of-31 passes for 341 yards and 3 scores in the win.
