Robert Morris wins the Conference Opener

Robert Morris defeated Mt. St. Mary's 63-57 in the the Northeast Conference opener for both teams. The Colonials used a top-notch defensive performance and some key plays offensively late to hold off the Mountaineers.

The Mount committed way too many turnovers and shot very poorly again, a very poor combination. But credit goes to the Colonials who started strong after the 11-day layoff.

Russell Johnson was impressive for the Colonials in limited minutes which really got a total team effort on the offensive end in the victory. Rob Robinson, who has been a thorn in the Mount's side through the years, missed most of the game in foul trouble but had several key buckets late to help the cause.

The Mount returns to action Saturday night at St. Francis PA.

More recap from me tomorrow, when I've had some time to review the game.
