If we had a College Football Playoff - Play In Games

Over the course of the next seven weeks - I will simulate an NCAA football tournament.

The tournament will:

1) Incorporate the Bowl System
2) Still have postseason for 68 teams - the 68 highest Sagarin ranked Bowl Eligible teams
3) Be over before the Super Bowl
4) Determine a True National Champ

This week's games are played at neutral sites and are play-in games for the main 64-team bracket

Thursday December 10 - Bowling Green vs. Marshall - HONOLULU, HAWAII
Marshall advanced to take on Alabama with a 19-17 win over MAC rival Bowling Green in the first playoff game in NCAA history. Brian Anderson threw for two touchdowns and 226 yards, including the game winner to Antavious Wilson. Tyler Sheehan threw for 243 yards in defeat.

Friday December 11 - Middle Tennessee State vs SMU - BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA
SMU survived a shootout with Middle Tennesee winning the play-in 40-32 in Alabama. The two teams combined for 1081 yards in the game. Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 423 yards and 4 TD's to lead the Mustangs into a 1st round showdown with in-state rival TCU.

Saturday December 12 - Iowa State vs. Northern Illinois - FORT WORTH, TEXAS
Northern Illinois surprised Big-12 opponent Iowa State 30-19 in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. Meco Brown ran for 125 yards to pace the balanced attack in the win. NIU will travel to Austin to take on the Longhorns next weekend.

Saturday December 12 - Ohio vs Idaho - NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
Ohio ran through the Idaho defense racking up 574 yards of total offense as the Bobcats downed the Vandals 35-19. Boo Jackson was 25-43 for 451 yards and four touchdowns in the victory. Ohio will now face the 2nd seeded Florida Gators in the next round.
