Just finished up watching the Las Vegas Invitational Final game this morning. I watched the first half last night and the remainder this morning. Kansas looked dominant early on, but a lot of credit has to go to Arizona for remaining composed and playing its way through some rough things early. The Cats made a game of it before Kansas pulled away late. Particularly impressive was the play of Derrick Williams who scored 27 before fouling out.
I may try to find my way to Bethlehem this evening and see Bryant play at Lehigh. But I'm thinking that probably isn't going to happen. Too much going on today to make it all work out.
Navy lost again yesterday. This time to lowly UMES in overtime. The Midshipmen had seemingly been having trouble with the offense but that may have come to life a little bit over the last two games. The Mount has to be a solid favorite when the two meet at the ARCC tomorrow night.
Anybody else shocked by the Dayton Cincinnati score? The Bearcats doubled up the Flyers 68-34. Not a surprise that the Big East school won the game. But the margin of victory and dominance in doing so, was certainly a surprise to me. So I guess that makes the Bearcats the champs of the Global Sports Main Event. Another championship for the Big East in an MTE. No official numbers but I think the Big East has been the most impressive conference during these events.
The conference won two other championships yesterday. Syracuse in AC with the Legends. St John's in Alaska over Arizona State with the Great Alaska Shootout. So I think that is 6 total MTE championships for the conference with Notre Dame playing Wisconsin in Orlando today with a chance to make it 7. That is some pretty good depth.
