NCAAB - Game#5 - Iona vs Kent State - World Vision Classic

Looks like there is going to be some good basketball in Cleveland this weekend. Cleveland State and Bryant are the other participants, so three out of four ain't bad.

Both of these teams are expected to contend in their respective leagues this season. Trying to keep track of what is going on via GameTracker. There was a lot more pace than I expected early and both teams started shooting the ball well. But it sort of evened itself out by the half.

Kent has been the better shooting team and has had nice first half performances from Justin Greene 15 points and 5 rebounds and Carlton Guyton 9 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.

Iona seemed to find an answer to stopping Greene later in the half and closed to within 35-32 at the break. Being able to contain Greene and knocking down some outside shots, the Gaels were 3-of-10 from behind the arc in the first half, will be keys in the second half. But it seemed as if Iona had a bit of momentum headed to the locker room although some of the pace had seemed to stall.

Iona had every right to win this down the stretch but let a 70-64 lead turn into a 73-72 defeat. Greene made one of two free throws with one second left to secure the comeback. That finished off a 26 point, 14 rebound 3 block night.

Both will play Bryant and Cleveland State this weekend.
