NCAAB - Game#6 - Georgetown @ Old Dominion

If you've read any previews about Georgetown this offseason, you've heard about how their guards are going to lead them. Well lead them they did tonight.

Faced with adversity on the road against a good Old Dominion team, Georgetown rallied for a 62-59 win behind the play of Austin Freeman, Chris Wright and Jason Clark combined for 54 of the 62 points. Freeman's 4-point play ignited the rally for the Hoyas who trailed most of the contest.

Most of my attention was focused on the Syracuse game, but what I saw early from the Hoyas was not very impressive. They looked very stagnant offensively and they were definitely lucky to be in the game. But as it got close down the stretch their guards particularly Wright made some big plays.

Old Dominion will do well in the CAA but they won't the chance to earn a statement win like this again this year. And they certainly had their chances. But in the end Georgetown just made more plays down the stretch. ODU will get Richmond and Dayton at home but they aren't the same caliber and a late December trip to Columbia to play Missouri will be extremely tough on the road.

Georgetown also plays Missouri and will also face Utah State, Temple and the field in the Charleston Classic before the Big East opens up. So a good schedule for them as well, but not sure they'll have many tests tougher than tonight.
